Introducing The Team Rush i39 LAN Lineup

Written by Foster on .

fpnewsLater this week Team Rush will be attending Multiplay's i39 to participate in the EA's sponsored Bad Company 2 Tournament with a total prize pot of £2,500. The format of the competition is very similar to that of previous BF2 tournaments, being that it's 5v5 Infantry only and using the Conquest game mode.

With top teams such as Dignitas and Epsilon atteneding, Rush will have to be on good form to match their second place performance in the i38 bf2 tournament, which saw them come through against Team Coolermaster by one ticket in the Semi-finals. However with a new game and a new lineup, a good result is certainly not out of the question.

Are Consoles the end for pc gaming ?

Written by sT0n3r on .

fpnewsOver the past decade some of the most exciting developments in processors have come not from the CPU makers but the graphics guys. Graphics hardware has evolved significantly from the original dream of implementing OpenGL in hardware to the multicore parallel processing chips that drive today's offerings.

The big question that hangs over the industry is whether gamers actually need the kind of performance delivered by the latest hardware such as NVIDIA's long awaited Fermi GPU.

Despite constant delays, the Fermi architecture, also know by the GF100 moniker, is getting closer to release. With current estimates putting it around April 12th, this is a generational shift in NVIDIA's hardware design. At the moment a huge number of details are still up in the air, such as card speeds and the number of processing cores that will ship. This hasn't stopped the hype machine as excitement builds over NVIDIA's offering in the DirectX 11 space.

Multiplay comfirm sponsorship for BC2 at I39

Written by Foster on .

fpnewsWhen there's less than two weeks to go before Multiplay's I39 LAN 'Party' is set to kick off, Multiplay normally like to start announcing the exact details behind their various tournaments and exhibitors, with this event being no exception. It was confirmed on Monday that EA have decided to put some money behind their new game, with a substantial £2500 split between the top three teams.

No doubt attendees of i39 will be pleased to see such a strong commitment from EA, and we can only hope a similar fund for the next I series in the summer. What is less expected is the format that Multiplay has decided to go with: 5v5 conquest with no vehicles, mirroring the original way the Battlefield 2 tournaments have been run before. Furthermore, the ruleset they have currenty elected to go with is almost the complete opposite of The Electronic Sports League:

Team Rush start with a win in the ESL Squad Rush cup.

Written by Foster on .

bc2-bannerThe first cups on ESL for Battlefield Bad Company 2 are just kicking off, and with literally hundreds of teams signed up for both the 8v8 conquest and 4v4 squad rush modes, players everywhere will be looking forward to putting the recently released game through it's paces to see whether or not BFBC2 has what it takes to survive as a competitive scene.

As with all games a good start is always important, and Team Rush managed just that with a convincing win over Prediction Gaming's squad noCrysis. The team, consisting of Crasher, Fchen, Silenthawk and Nad, were seen off by Duky, Mr. Pig, Dusteh and St0n3r, who won the match 5 rounds to 1, giving them the honour of being the first team in the group to chalk up 3 points.

This is a great start for the team, and with i39's £2500 BFBC2 tournament just weeks away is an important confidence boost. Let's hope this is the first win of many to come!

Need for Speed MMO hits beta

Written by 2sweet on .

fpnewsAfter 14 installments over the last 15 years, the most ambitious and innovativeversion of Need for Speed is on the horizon. EA is working on a free-to-play massively multiplayer online racer, exclusive to the PC. Joystiq notes that an MMO version of the game could be the last Need for Speed title EA will have to make, offering a potential platform for "limitless updates."

Called Need for Speed World, the title has only just reached beta but already boasts over 150 miles of open road. Joystiq says the game follows the arcade-inspired mechanics of previous NFS entries, and should be widely accessible with hardware requirements including a 2.0GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 512MB graphics card.
