Bad Company 2 developers DICE have appointed a new Battlefield Community Manager, who has already made an immediate impact on competitive players by confirming his intention to investigate and understand the needs for competitive support in the game. The Battlefield franchise has always had a dedicated 'Community Manager' who has a responsibility, amongst other things, to collate feedback from the Battlefield community and pass it on to developers DICE to help with feature requests, patches and other game related fixes.
For a few months now the position has been vacant, but a couple of days ago it was confirmed that a competitive player on both PC and console, known as 'zh1nt0', has been given the task of reaffirming the relationship between BF fans and the developers.
Battlefield Community Manager introduces himself to BFBC2 PC gamers:
My name is Daniel and I am the new Community Manager for Battlefield. I would like to say it is an honour and a privilege working for DICE. I will tell you a bit about myself, my gaming career and also share my goals and ambitions for the Battlefield series with you- the community. I have mostly been gaming on PC but during the last few years I have also been gaming on Xbox 360 and PS3. My gamertag is zh1nt0 so feel free to add me. Also make sure that you follow OfficialBFBC2 for the latest news.
Being a big fan of computer games, back in 2002 I stumbled upon a game in which you could fly airplanes, drive tanks and also play as an infantry player in multiplayer mode. It was Battlefield 1942. After that, the Battlefield series caught my attention and I immediately started playing competitively in different ladders and cups, both in the North American leagues and the European ones.
I had a short break in 2006 but I have now returned to the scene more actively this year to play Bad Company 2 on the PS3 console. My team and I are in the finals of the Console gaming league which will hopefully be streamed live. The final is scheduled for probably scheduled for Saturday, so stay tuned! Since I have been in most leagues, I am familiar with the competitive sites scattered around the web.
My goal for the Battlefield Community is to evolve the community to be the largest, best and most satisfied community there is in online gaming. I am fully convinced that this can be achieved by involving you- the players of this community. I always say that with the right ambition, motivation and visualizing your goals, you will achieve them in the end. I also intend to keep track of the different leagues, cups and tournaments being played for BF2, BF1943 and BFBC2 for all platforms. I would very much like to know you guys out there so look out for me on the Battlefield. I hope you enjoyed this presentation and if you have any questions you can find me on the EA forums and the various community sites spread around the web.
Curious as to why DICE decided to appoint a gamer with an obvious competitive background into a position of responsibility, despite jibes about 'selling out the PC community' still ringing around the EA Forums, I took it upon myself to provide a summary of the feedback that has been collated and documented in the last few months, half-expecting no response whatsoever, or possible a cursory glance with nothing more to be said on it, such is the track record for Community Managers at DICE avoiding reasonable questions about reasonable problems such as the gaming being fudging broken, for example.

Surprisingly, our new Community Manager was all ears and quick to stamp out any fears that his appointment was going to bring more of the same old bad communication between BFBC2 PC competitive players and DICE.
'zh1nt0' gets right down to business for Competitive BFBC2:
Very good post!
I can't really find the time today to go through all the links you posted but I do get the essence of what you would like to say. I will however in the coming days view the different links and starting next week I will definietly start working on your message.
Thank you for your post as it is very appreciated!
Forum regulars, delighted to even see a DICE rep replying in a timely fashion to such a serious-face thread, didn't quite know what to do with themselves! I intimated that it would be important to keep updating the competitive guys as often as possible to retain thier interest.
Daniel re-affirmed his desire to give the competitive scene a chance to be heard:
I will definietly keep in touch with the competetive scene. In order to get all the information out of your post it will probably take a few days :P.. I really want to give this the attention it needs.
Soon followed by this announcement on the Official Battlefield Blog regarding BC2 on PC:
I would also like to add that the BFBC2 PC patch is currently still in development and we have sent it for STEAM compatibility testing today. All being well the patch will be released early next week. For information on what the patch fixes take a look at the changelog on the official forums at http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk.
I would also like to announce every Wednesday from now on to be “Community Wednesdays†where I will give you guys a weekly update in the form of a blog post, but also in forums and a direct link to this on the official BFBC2 twitter account at http://twitter.com/OfficialBFBC2.
In these community Wednesday posts I will supply you with information regarding the game.
Many BFBC2 players are cautious but optimistic that the new Community Manager will be able to deliver the goods when it comes to competitive support, but I hope to clear up a lot of the enduring questions regarding Spectator Mode, Demo Recording, Revive Protection, Server Functionality and many other competition focused fixes in another exclusive Cadred news post coming very soon... :):)
