The upper bracket finals went very one-sided with TCM-Gaming winning with a 312 ticket lead. This was managed by TCM flanking Rush by going up the second set of subway stairs on Operation Metro. As such both of Rush's teams were in the lower bracket finals and had to face each other for who was eliminated into third place. Rush's first team took this game with a 300 ticket lead securing third position for Rush-Zones second team.
The grand finals was a weighted best of three maps, with TCM-Gaming being 1-0 up on Rush through knocking them down in the earlier stages of the tournament. This meant Team Rush had to win two consecutive games in a row versus the only team that had previously defeated them in this tournament. As TCM-Gaming was 1-0 ahead and it was the best of 3 maps, Rush had map choice and chose Damavand Peak, a map they had recently been practicing for the 4pl finals with Epsilon.
The practice managed to pay off as Rush swung a good opening lead of 266 tickets and pulling the weighted best of three to 1-1. Since TCM-Gaming had just lost the last map it was now their map choice and they chose Operation Metro, the map they had previously bested Rush on. TCM-Gaming got off to a good start winning the first half by 90 tickets, this meant Rush had to win the last half with over 90 tickets left to take the tournament. Even though they recently beat Rush 312-0 on the same map hours before, this was still going to be a tall order.
The second half got underway and Rush quickly adapted and shut down the second subway escalators, stopping TCM-Gaming from getting the upper hand and subduing their hopes of winning the first Battlefield 3 LAN tournament since release. Rush quickly proceeded to close out the game with 142 tickets left. This meant Rush-Zone came back from a stifling 312 ticket loss through the losers bracket and wins i44 continuing their chain of recent success.
Congratulations to both teams once again from the community and Rush-Zone management on this spectacular performance grabbing first and third place at Insomnia 44.
