Saturday @ i39 For Team Rush - 5.0 out of 5 based on Saturday @ i39 For Team Rush 1 vote
After the normal slow Friday at the i-series, Saturday was where things picked up and Rush started their campagin towards being the first team to win a BF:BC2 LAN event in the EU. At first, the rules for the event were quite basic, it was 5v5 Conquest, with nothing but the standard starting weapons, no upgrades, and no vehicles. This changed on Friday after a talk with the captains of each team and it was decided to go with rules that resemble ESL rules:
"The following weapons are not permitted to be used in the tournament:

1. M60

The following unlocks/specialisations are not permitted to be used in the tournament:

1. Grenade Vest (Doubles your 40mm and hand grenade load)
2. Explosive Leg Pouch (Doubles the number of explosives and rockets carried)
3. Ceramic Body Armour (Added protection against enemy fire and preventing damage from reaching fatal proportions)
4. Magnum Ammunition (Provides greater damage and increased range)
5. Improved Demolitions (Adds to the destructive power carried by mobile infantry and engineers)"

For some, the rules were a great welcome, some did conplain, however at the end of the day, its still the best team wins.

Although the prize money is a big £2500, the number of teams who have entered were low. Dignitas showed up with 2 teams, yet again showing their "domination". Rush Came to i39 with a strong lineup: Mr Pig, Ducky, Foster, Lucifer and Born.

The first frustration came when the team were not seeded, which made no sence, Dignitas were seeded 1 and 2, with Epsilon 3 and Rush Gaming (no, not us, another team who have used our name......) at 4. Now if you remember, Rush came 2nd at the BF2 tourny @ i38, so why would the seedings not show this. However, seedings mean nothing at the end of the day, and being the first Eu BC2 tourny, how can you seed?

As you know, with no battle recorder on BC2 yet, it means RushTV was not on for the group stages, so sadly being unable to attend I cannot give a decent review. Still, I did manage to see Dignitas take on thrash a bunch of casual players. What made me laugh was the shoutcasting, as oDee (Dignitas head honcho) was the guest for this, so a lot of talk was about how the team should go all the way and win. The reason? No reason, just the shoutcaster stating his own view. I must admit it was interesting to see the game in tourny play being without battle recorder and LAN functions

Enough of Dignitas, on to Rush. The guys had quite an easy group, against In Need, Team Chaz's Vent, and Epsilon. In Need was the first up to take on the boys and needless to say it was flawless: 2:0, Ducky did claim the lads almost won a round without losing a ticket! With one win under the belt, knowing that one more win would put them through, the boys did just that, beating the seeded Epsilon 2:0, the team were through to the knockout stages, and it got easier for the team as they then won the 3rd game by forfit as TCV did not turn up. As one famous  meerkat would say: "simples"

As for the other groups, it was very straight foward for the seeds, and Rush Gaming and the 2 Dignitas teams made it through to the knockout stages, it was more about who would make it to the knockouts with them, and extreme measures (the team who was on the main stage when they were beaten by Dignitas), =WFB= and Sykotic all made it through.

So tomorrows play will decide who will make it to finals on Monday morning. The first round of knockouts will be the top two teams from each division facing each other once again. This means Rush will have to play Epsilon once again, and if the guys make it through that, they would have a chance to send the 2nd Dignitas team out of the Tourny

Congratulations to the following teams who made it through to the knockout stage of the cup:
  • sykotic
  • dignitas danes
  • Team Rush
  • Xtreme Measures
  • Rush Gaming
  • Epsilon eSports
  • Team Dignitas
  • =WFB=
Be sure to check out the results from today here, and stay tuned tomorrow from 10am to catch all the double elimination action!!

So Foster, good days work?
