Set in 2045 life has continued to barely thrive on the Ark. Ushering a new generation raised on the Ark. With civil unrest rampant the founders called for volunteers to restore peace. The original inhabitants volunteered to help restore order, with the refugees being left to rot. With so much people aboard the Ark the once "renewable" resources have quickly been almost utterly depleted. Contact with the outer world has been cut off to prevent further groups from coming to the Ark.
Now completely cut off from the rest of the world, the Ark has been pushed into the brink of destruction.
Factions
Security
The "protectors" of the Ark. The once prominent police force for The Ark, with the fall of The Ark's vision and over population they have become made up of volunteers. They are convinced that they must protect what very little food and water is available, and restore order to The Ark.
Resistance
The "unsung heroes" of The Ark. Tired of being used as labor fodder by the Founder, they are made up of groups who rebelled and want to fight back for their rights. They want equal food and water rations for all, and insist on using remaining resources to seek outside help.
Gameplay
BRINK is set as a heavy team focused FPS. With command points as spawn points and 4 playable classes. Each offering individual ways to help your team. A dynamic mission system( similar to Enemy Territory:Quake Wars )offers you simple and complex ways to help your team. It changes based on your current location, the status of your team, what class you are, and various other factors. Completing missions and matches earns you XP which can be used to get new attachments for your weapons, new weapons, and tons of character customization options.
Classes
There are a four classes in BRINK. Each has access to special abilities tailored to it's specific class. BRINK puts a focus on class investment. This means playing with one particular class, and expanding it with newly earned abilities, which in turn open up new strategies.
You can identify which of your teammates are medics, soldiers, etc. by their gloves and back pack. Each class carries a different set to correspond to their class.
Also when you are at a command post you can switch to a different class in real time without having to respawn. Plus you will be told how many operatives, engineers, etc. are on your team so you can make a better choice.
Medic
Helps keep everyone on their team alive, and in the fight, and can even give them health boosts to extend their longevity on the battlefield.
Soldier
Keeps their team fully stocked with ammunition, as well as in possession of explosives to destroy barriers which unlock short cuts, and they can impede the enemy with various types of grenades.
Operative
Can " tag" targets for all of their team to see, and is capable of hacking enemy turrets to use against them, they have the ability to disarm and plant sticky bombs, and they can take on the appearance of a fallen enemy.
Engineer
Capable of boosting their team's weapon damage and boost their armor, can also plant land mines and turrets on the field, is also capable of repairing/constructing certain objectives to help their team progress.
Class Buffs
Each class has a specific " buff" excluding the Operative

- Engineer - can buff a team mate's armor/damage
- Soldier - can buff a team mate's weapon capacity

Unlike a traditional FPS game where the player must play a separate character in the campaign and multiplayer, BRINK takes a different approach. Allowing you to advance your same in game character whether your playing online or the single
player campaign. Players can choose between a list of different accents for their character, which serves as their voice in the campaign, and issuing commands in multiplayer.
Ranks
So low level or new players are given a fair advantage matchmaking is split up into "Ranks". Rather than a level 15 going against a level 2 the level 2 would be marked at a rank 1, meaning the highest player he could fight would be a 4, it goes as follows
The 5 ranks:
R1: lvl 0/1-4
R2: lvl 5-10
R3: lvl 11-15
R4: lvl 16-19
R5: lvl 20
